Sorry I have nothing to offer, but I will be watching because I plan on being there after Christmas if the weather is good.

1. Padre Island National Seashore for the beach2. Fish in the Laguna Madre (hire a guide)3. Birdwatching in Port Aransas and lots of other places4. Visit the Texas State Aquarium5. Fortunately, most spring break vacations will be over by the end of March.Must sees?Corpus Christi and Port Aransas are like night and day differences.Big city vs laid back seashore.Corpus Christi- USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier, Aquarium (we just spent a day in Corpus Christi, so these are the two things we did.)Port Aransas - just lay back and relax. Visit the many bird sanctuaries, read a book on the beach, travel to Padre Island National Seashore. Port Aransas is really just a little town. Lots of interesting little places to eat and shop, most of them local and not chains.I'm sure that regular travelers to the area can give you much more. But we were just winter-weary Northern Minnesotans who desperately wanted warmth in late February/early March and we just wanted to relax. So we went mostly to take it easy and have the ice melt off of our bodies! :) Enjoy - it is a great place.

Do a Google search for `______ tourism' and put the city or area in the blank space and read what the specialists recommend.

Right now, I would go elsewhere, They had a horrible toxic spill of something that got into their water and while some areas are fine, other areas you can't even bathe in the water.

It was the Corpus city water system that was contaminated by an accidental backflow of chemicals. The system has been flushed, and the all clear has been given for the entire city. It did not affect areas outside the city.

North of rockport not to be missed

In the freshwater and brackish marshes of Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, a distinct and wild trumpeting call rings across the marsh. It is the whooping crane, Grus americana, the rarest crane species and one of the rarest birds in North America. All of the whooping cranes alive today, both wild and captive, are descendants of the last 15 remaining cranes that were found wintering at the Aransas Refuge in 1941.

So, from Little Rock, I'll be taking 167 south to 165 at Alexandra, La then on to Lake Charles, La on I-10. Any recommended campgrounds or things to see our our slow trip to Corpus especially in La?

We take I-37 then 358 to the island.

As for food, I'm surprised no one mentioned What-A-Burger.
The kids make us stop when we land in San Antonio.
Heck, even I'll eat a #1 w/ cheese, ketchup and mayo... :)

. Just south of Alexandria is Marksville, LA. The Paragon Casino is there with a very nice campground. Might be a good place to overnight. Then take I49 south to I10. Have a sfe trip.

It doesn't seem to be on your highway route, but the stop that came to mind is Natchitoches, LA and visits to the plantations as well as the downtown itself.

I think the free ferry that crosses the ship channel on your way to Port Aransas is a fun deal. Usually see dolphins. Also a restaurant called the Big Fisherman off the road from Aransas Pass to Rockport is good fish/seafood (mostly fried). Rockport/Fulton is a nice area to visit for quaint shops and restaurants as well.
