Cotter Trout Dock

Anyone have a favorite camp on the White River near the Cotter Trout Dock ? We have another fishing trip booked in June and usually stay closer to Berryville/Huntsville Ar. area but I don't want to make the nearly 2 hr drive starting at 5:30 am
  • I really like the Bull Shoals/White river State park. Not real close to Cotter but a very nice Park. I just stayed there last week and with a seniors discount was about $20.00 a night.

  • We have always stayed for years at White River RV Campground and cottages. In Flippin across the river and bridge from cotter trout dock. Back right up to river and view of the bridge.

june,is the bank fishing good in that area ? Also are the roads good to the campgrounds ?

The experienced people I have seen there tend to wade fish (bring some waders). Many people hire guides. You need to know what you are doing to some extent to use a boat on that river.

The problem in June is that the river levels can change radically since it is determined by the dam release on Bull Shoals Lake upstream, which is in turn determined by electrical power demands. June=summer=air conditioning power demands from Little Rock, etc.

You can probably bank fish, but I think you will be more successful wading or boating.

The roads are acceptable to Cotter if you stay on the US highways, less so on the state highways. The short local road to Denton Ferry is fine.

We stayed at Denton Ferry RV Park a couple of years ago. It was a quiet, clean and well-managed park. We were fortunate to have a back-in site right on the White River. They even had a horizontal deep freezer in the laundry room to keep your fish in until you left.

It is about 3 miles away from the Cotter Trout Dock.

I was looking at their website before I posted. Will book as they emailed me back. Will be there 6-8 till the 11th then over to Withrow Springs or Kings River Hitchin Post

If you haven't "done" the Little Red River at Heber Springs, try that. Good camping at John F Kennedy campground by the fish hatchery below the dam.
