Like you, we have visited at least 5 different campgrounds in Lancaster over the past 10 years. Every year we make one or two visits.
Just last weekend we made our first visit to Country Acres for a 3 night stay. Our site was in the newer section and there were not gates. The older section does have gates.
I would suggest when making your reservation you discuss your travel/arrival plans. Their check-in time is 2:30 PM, but they will allow early check-in if your site is empty.
We were pleased with our visit and will return.
