A cold day or two won't do it, the water temps in the Atlantic or Gulf have to drop and it takes a sustained period of cool weather to do that.

Ok. So thanksgiving is too early to see any outside of the homossa state park?

Camp somewhere in the area and go to Crystal River for one of the many manatee excursions. Molest our wild manatees and you'll enjoy a citation from the Grouper Troopers.

I would recommend Nature’s Resort. On the water (River) in Homosassa. A tad tite and some drunks but the right location.

Rock Crusher does not have water access as it's inland from the gulf. It's a Sun Community property. Nice park. Campgroundreviews.com or RVPARKY has good listings and info so try them.

Probably no Manatees to be seen unless we have a long cold period. And that would be early in the year for that. They go up the rivers to springs to keep warm so the Gulf water temps have to drop to push them inland.

Best to see them after the beginning of the year. Hommassaa SP has a Manatee herd(?) of critters that were rescued with injuries and you can see them anytime. Maybe 6 or 8 or them and you'll get a better look at them than you will of one in the river or springs. They feed them lettuce a couple of times a day to pull them in. No swimming allowed near them in the parks. Manatee Springs SP and Blue Springs SP (the one near Deland) are good places to see them once they move upriver. Oh and Crystal River itself usually has some.

As an almost native I'm not all that wowed by them....heh
