Its going to be quite a while till they reopen. My wife works for the city of Grapevine and volunteered to help with some of the cleanup. She said it needs tons of work


Its a real shame too, Vineyards is a nice campground

The KOA in Arlington is not bad at all and right off Cooper so walking to eat wouldn't be to bad. But Arlington has no public transportation so you would need a car to go any further. There is a rail line that connects Fort Worth and Dallas but it runs across the north half of the metromess so still no connection from Treetops or KOA.

Spring Creek Village RV and trailer park in Plano (N of Dallas) is on US-75 and pretty close to a DART station (the one between Park and Parker Rd). The DART rail line runs right into downtown Dallas and from there it spokes out on other rail lines and buses. DART doesn't do cross town very well as it was designed from day one to get people into and out of Dallas city center. Once you get into Dallas city center you can pick up a rail or bus going out to any of the other suburban communities. Ft Worth has a similar system but I don't recall off hand if there's a rail or bus connection between the two city centers.

We stayed at Treetops Carefree RV Park in Sept. Nice and quiet even tho it was crowed. This is a Passport America RV park

You might want to try Treetops Carefree RV Park in Arlington, Texas. About halfway between Ft Worth and Dallas. Nice neighborhood and not too far to many restaurants and a huge mall. Well within your 5 mile range. :)

Love the replies. LOL! Looks like I'm a little delusional.

I live in the DFW metroplex and if you're without a car you're out of luck. The two cities are about 30 miles apart. Look at www.rvparkreviews.com and check the parks reviewed. Call the parks you like and see if a shuttle service is available.

Sometimes people with an East Coast orientation do not have an appreciation of the great distances out west. Texas can be a great example. DFW covers a very large dispersed area as does Houston.

Driving across Texas from Texarkana at the east side to El Paso at the far west side covers over 800 miles. That's like driving from New York City to Chicago. Or from NYC nearly to Florida.

To visit my cousin over in the Houston area I drive all the way across southern California, all the way across Arizona, and all the way across that southern leg of New Mexico into Texas at El Paso. I then continue another hundred miles and I'm finally half way to my cousin's house. Only half way!

Come on out but keep an eye on the gas gauge.
