Dangers of campground lot ownership

I own a lot at a campground in Indiana. This campground is different than some as to the fact that owners actually own lots instead of renting and pay property tax. Recently management of the campground stated on social media that our key card swipe access to our property will be denied and be replaced by a fingerprint system. We will be denied access until we allow them to fingerprint our first two fingers. Is this legal. I do not want to do this. The management is very shifty.

  • Read your paperwork, all of it. That will tell you what your rights are. This forum can't read your paperwork; anything on this forum is speculation and worthless.
  • You leave fingerprints everywhere in a normal day anyway. If a bad guy wanted them that bad he'd already have them.
However, I doubt that someone can block your access to YOUR property. The fingerprint tech would not be cheap. I'm thinking that some of your neighbors may be allowing just anybody in there with their access cards and somebody started fussing.
  • If you own the lots then you must have set up a property owners association with an elected board of directors made up of any owners who wish to serve. That's how it should be set up anyway. If the board and a consensus of the membership voted on this then you are bound to it IMO.
  • well my fingerprint sensor unlock on my new smart phone doesn't work right so I wouldn't trust one at the gate.

  • That is why I like it here in Florida where we bought in a "Condominium Camp Ground" All rules and regulations are set forth by Florida, and something like that would first have to be proposed by the Condo Board who are elected by the owners and then it would have to go before the owners for a vote at the annual meeting.

  • "The management is very shifty." Would be time to sell your lot and move
    elswhere ?

    X2 what OLD BISCUIT said.

  • What does your 'contract' with this campground state regarding egress/ingress?

What does your 'contract' with this campground state regarding 'changes in agreement'?

You need to pull out ALL paper work connected to the purchase of this LOT and READ it carefully...........

I would be very concerned with the use of 'biometric scanning' especially by such a low level security -----how are they going to protect your fingerprints.
Once digitized and stored on computer it is available

I would consult with an attorney.......take 'contract' for review and advice.

Right to Egress/Ingress should be KEY point.
