Death Valley Flowers

The DW wants to go see the flowers this weekend. I know a storm is coming in and the weather report says rain on Sunday. Does that mean Towne Pass will get snow and maybe require chains for 3 miles? Taking 190 south to Baker is way out of the way to come home. Figured on going over the pass and taking the road in Panamint valley south to Trona.
With the flood damage from last October, not much to see at the north end except Ubehebe crater. May be impossible to get a spot at Furnace Creek walk-in hoping for a cancellation. May try Texas CG and Sunset CG is my last choice.
But there are lot's of flowers like 10 years ago.
  • Going to wait until Monday or Tuesday hoping for less crowd on weekdays.
  • Friends hosting at Sunset and Texas said those two campgrounds full everyday and using overflow..
  • Profdant139, are you up there or planning too? We aren't sure if we are going tomorrow or waiting until next week. Weather is a factor.
  • I talked to a ranger -- she said that she thinks that the best flowers next week will be in the north part of the park, near Mesquite Campground.
  • Texas and Sunset probably won't fill. The flowers are south of Furnace Creek and are wonderful. You will enjoy the trip. Don't know about going over the pass, you'll just have to call the park or Caltrans before you leave.
