We are thinking of spending a few nights in Death Valley on our way north. We would be getting there around March 17th and want to stay about 3 nights.
We have noticed that any places with FHU and dry sites are booked.
What does the availability look like for dry camping in the gov't parks and any idea the best places to check.
We realise these are probably first come, first served type accommodations but really don't want to venture down without some sort of insurance of a place to park.
Any suggestions or recommendations.
There are plenty of boon docking areas inside DV if the campgrounds are full and I doubt that would happen.
Death Valley Campgrounds, DV is a very large park and many people under estimate their travel time inside the park, down load their PDF map and check it out. Inside DV furnace Creek sells diesel and gas, Stovepipe Wells sells only gas, these are the only places inside DV wher you can buy fuel. Stovepipe Wells does have a
RV Park with FHU's, check the link.
I would suggest to you to read the trip reports in the Truck Camper forum, there are a number of reports on DV with lots of photos and videos.
