We were just at Furnace Creek for a week, stayed at the Furnace Creek NPS campground (they have 18 full hook up sites now). Everyday people moved around sites, they just walked up to the gates and moved sites, even though the internet site showed evertying fully booked. Sunset across the street never looked full at all! You can also go to the pool at the Ranch, which is AWESOME. It's a fresh warm spring fed swimming pool that's really nice. This was probably our best vacation yet. Death Valley is amazing!!!! So many awesome things to see and do!
