I also checked out the dentist even after I had a reference. For what it is worth, the dentist I use in Progresso has more modern equipment than my former stateside dentist. His workspace is spotless. I haven't had dentures, but I have had extractions, root canals, and bridges and have had no problems. For those without dental insurance, this is a viable option.
There is one around the corner from my house in Florida and I would not go to him if I was bleeding at a rate of 1 gallon a minute. Then down the street we had one arrested for child abuse and another for practicing without a license... I think Thailand is a good choice over some in the states.
