We visited in 2013 and enjoyed it a lot. I think kids that age would love it.The new facility at the Quarry exhibit hall at the Utah side is the place to see the huge fossils. It re-opened there just a few years ago and is fascinating to see. We also drove from there to the Cub Creek area to see the petroglyphs.
We stayed in Vernal, I believe at a KOA (OK, average older campground.)
