Camping on the West Coast almost requires making reservations.
having camped in California, Oregon and Washington, for over 30 years, we know how difficult reserving campsites is, let alone expecting to be able to just walk up and get a site.
there's too much population for the amount of public campgrounds.
you can get away without reservations, by staying at less popular areas and going weekdays. especially inland.
but in the summer, every day is booked up at least 6 months in advance.
