Tony and Karen, that was a useful link -- the author makes a good point about not leaving your outside lights on needlessly, since so many of us boondock in order to see the stars that are not visible back home in the city.
True story -- we boondocked all September in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and California. By the end of a month of dark desert and mountain skies, my wife (who is not a star enthusiast, unlike me) was easily able to spot the Andromeda Galaxy as soon as she stepped outside the trailer at night, with no hesitation.
If you know how hard it is in most places to find Andromeda, then you know how amazing it is to be in places where it is so bright that it jumps right out at you.
