I so wish we were more like you and your DW. For us it requires effort to move south and it would be so much easier to just sit in the house, watch the snow fall, and cut coupons then winterize a place, pack for six months, and fight traffic south.
We actually need to force ourselves into going through all the effort it takes to move south because we know the rewards will far outweigh the pains. There is a saying that once a snowbird takes a winter off they never go back to the lifestyle. I think we all like to take the path of least resistance even if it's not good for us.
