Dogs are allowed in the campground and on paved roads only. You cannot take the dogs on trails and you can't leave them unattended in the campsite. So unless you wish to hike the trails separately while the other person stays at camp and watches the dog, you'll have a nice visit of the campground and nothing else. This is standard operating procedure for California State Parks.
