My only complaint is that that the Reserve America site really makes the bucks!
That's not an insignificant fee, but the Maryland State Parks do give a lot of folks a break by making their Senior Pass ($10 lifetime) available to out-of-state residents. Half-price camping Sunday - Thursday, which makes Assateague a bargain, even with the reservation fees.
