I found a few conversations about a hot tubs while camping. I don't think I want to bath with strangers watching at a camp ground, but if I'm semi private, you bet!I figured I could pump filtered water from a lake or creek, 100 feet away, to fill it. Iv seen a few different methods of heating the water. But how about draining it? Will the ranger make you hire a septic truck to remove the grey water? Or fine you right after you dump it?What are the rules about dumping grey water? When I was in Colorado, I was told you can dump it wherever by a camp ground host..Thanks

That Camp ground host was WRONG. EPA rules ban grey water dumoing! - even in Colorado where we lived for 30 years.

I have been to several camp grounds where there was signs asking you to duimp the GRAY WATER on the ground in specific spots.This is at CLOUDLAND CANYON camp sites off I59 Exit at Trento GA.Roy Ken

Never mind the dumping.. how long does it take to fill that from a stream, and how do you heat it?

Water from a hot tub is not grey water. There's no soap, food particles, or anything else in it. It's just plain water.

Draining hot tub after boondocking? Grey water..

When I hosted for the Sawtooth Ranger District in central Idaho, I asked the LEO about dumping gray water. His response was that you could wash dishes in a pan, take that pan outside and dump it. If you wash those same dishes in the sink, drain that water into your holding tank, then the water become gray and must be disposed of into an approved septic/sewer. It is the holding tank that creates the need to dispose of the gray water into the septic/sewer.

Yeah common sense and a grain of salt.

There's no way the water could make it back 100' to the water source. And if the tubs 250 gallons are drained slow, wont leave more than a wet spot in dry conditions.

I'm wondering how Funky the water might get after a few days of soaking with no chemicals? And if a low dose of Bromine tablets (no chlorine smell) , would be safe to dump later? easy now..

Other question is regarding the Inflatable Swimming Pool.. Mainly the drain, which needs to flow freely to the Thermosiphon fire ring. Which I have the materials and skill to fabricate.

Anyway.. I think this might be doable IF I can find the perfect camp site where the camp fire is lower than the tub.

i also wonder, especially if drained with a half inch water hose .. should take about 2 hrs to drain

I sort of question how much effect 200 gallons of water at 100 degrees will have on a flowing creek.

Iv found some innovative ways to heat hot tub water.. The most practical sounds like a immersion heater fired with a Flame Weed Dragon Torch.

Next in line is a turkey fryer burner modified to be a on demand water heater..

Its been done plenty of times.. And I'm still hoping I can do this for my GF..
