Most K-Z trailers from around 2010 used either a Suburban or Atwood/Dometic water heater. You should be able to find a metal tag on the outside access panel of the heater (usually on the driver’s side of the trailer) with the brand and model number — that’ll tell you exactly what you’re dealing with. Once you have that, the manuals are all available online as free PDFs.
A couple of quick checks that often solve the “not working” issue:
- Gas side: Make sure the propane tank is on, lines are purged (stove burners lit first helps), and the water heater switch is actually turned on inside the trailer. You should hear it click/try to ignite.
- Electric side: If it’s a combo unit, there’s usually a separate rocker switch outside on the heater itself (behind the access panel). Many people miss that one.
- Reset buttons: Look for small rubber reset buttons on the unit — they can trip if the heater has overheated or been run dry.
- Water in the tank: Always confirm the tank is full before testing — running it empty can damage the element or tank.
If you grab the brand/model off the heater door, I can point you directly to the right manual.
