Bottled water is fairly cheap - so we buy it, use it at home for drinking as well as camping. On the road, we use our tank water for washing, showers, etc ...
Not out of 'fear of contamination', but for convenience. Hiking - carry a bottle. Biking - carry a bottle. Sit watching TV or at the PC, the convenience is more the reason.
Don't know about the rest of you, but no matter what, we don't ever walk to the sink, take a glass, fill it and drink it. It's always handy in my day pack, or whatever. A bottle sits at the desk, and by the lounge chair. No, it's not chilled - I can't remember when I last drank chilled water unless it partnered with scotch over ice. :)
A taste of chocolate, a sip of water = luxury!!
