Dumas Texas Boondocking

For over 10 years we stopped at the Dumas Park on our way to Colorado. The place was nice, clean and good for one night on the way to Colorado. That has changed a bit since our last stop in 2012. Before we plugged-in (about 9:45 PM), the locals were sitting in their vehicles watching everything we were doing. They drove around us way several times way too fast and then in between the other four RV’s in the lot. DW did not like it at all and we went back south side of town to the Wal-Mart which… much better…I don’t know if anyone else has had the same issues about Dumas? I hope this was just a one-time issue as many of us use this each summer…
  • We stayed at the city park in Dumas on our way to and from the Texas Gulf coast this past winter. We had no problems at all. There was one other unit in the park each night. We saw no other activity in the RV parking area. We felt very safe and rested well. There is also a very easily accessible fuel stop just west of the park on the frontage road. We wish more towns would have inexpensive overnight places like this. All we needed was the power hook-up they provided. We gladly made a donation.
  • I guess your talking about the free park on 87? I've not stay there, arrived late and it was full. I stay at the Walmart and had no problems. But it was a few years ago. My last trip to Colorado, I managed to drive all the way to Trinidad and stay at their Walmart! I hope staying in Dumas is okay cause I hope to spend the night there again sometime, on my way to other places.
