We live in NC, and it's HOT in August....even up in the mountains, so I'd guess that the additional elevation and latitude of Colorado would probably be better for you.
Plus, I think (depending on what part of TX you're located), that CO would be less of a drive, and fuel is money!
Of course, if you've never been to NC, it's a great state, and we'd be glad to have your vacation dollars:)
