What RGar974417 said. Assateague Island National Seashore. Your pick, beach loops or bay loops. The wild horses will likely come visiting no matter which one you are in. Ocean City is not far if you want some noise. If it is a chill out break Assateague NS is great & quiet except for the sound of the surf.

You will need to do some looking to get a true ocean front site.

We love James Island County Park, too. Spent several spring breaks there, but it's about 7 hours from us.

Going is not bad, the problem is coming home...always seems like it takes forever! I used to put a lot of miles behind the wheel to get somewhere, only to realize you over did it and were exhausted. Now i try and plan shorter trips and not hop around that much.

We have same problem going to Hershey rv show than heading south some where Charleston or Fl have only one week too don't want to drive to many miles

I always vote for Maine, although as you're going in September, it may be a good time to visit the Cape. I'm heading up to Maine next week for a couple of weeks. Places I've read about: Lobster Buoy Campsites in S. Thomaston, Camden Hills State Park in Camden, and Acadia, of course. Since you said you wanted places to visit, any of those would work. I'm heading further north up to Cobscook Bay State Park as well, for an ocean front experience. Lobster Buoy sounds great from what everyone says, if you want to be on the ocean, but don't need a resort. Many other harbors to visit from there, or from Camden as well. The state park in Camden does have water and electric hookups, and WIFI. Enjoy your trip!

Take a look t Frontiertown in Ocean City, MD. Ocean City is a delightfully tacky beach town.

If you can put it off until the weekend of the 18th, Ocena City is holding Sunfest. Sunfest is the unofficial closing of the beach season.

We do not have plans as of yet, and are still looking into heading south, and am very interested in your suggestions as well. It may come down to driving time, as we could only be away a week or so.
