Exotic Animal Sanctuary - San Diego Ca

If you are in the San Diego area and love exotic cats and bears then you must go to Lions, Tigers and Bears. It a place that rescues these types of animals from the entertainment field and people that thought they would make a great pet and then can't handle them.

It is a great experience and you can tell the animals are treated with superior care.

And you can also feed any one of them that you choose. In this video you can see my wife and I feeding a White Tiger and an African Lion.

  • We live near Lions, Tigers and Bears and we raise Rabbits for show and 4H clubs. When we get over populated we will send off our extras to the sanctuary to help them with their feed bills. These people do wonderful work and god bless them for protecting and caring for these animals. It runs mostly on donations and what charity it can find. Please visit them if you are in town and help where you can.

This place was amazing. The rush of hearing that Lions noises while I was feeding him was unlike anything else.
Neat. There's no mistaking a male lion's roar either.

I talked to a tiger and he responded with a 'big cat' meow, more like a groan, and chuffing.. a kind of muffled sneeze. Like my housecat, they do know when you like them!

Were there any Lynx where you were?

I agree with you about the lions roar and the tigers chuffing. I am currently working on a video with all the animals we encountered there and the other guests feeding them.

There were no Lynx but 3-4 bobcats and a couple of them weren't happy with each other and got to film a small cat fight.
  • We went there a few months ago. Great experience, well worth it.
Have also visited Keepers of the Wild and Bearizona, both well worth the stop.
There is another sanctuary in north Scottsdale, AZ which I have not visited but plan to soon.

There is a small zoo in Prescott, AZ which is also a sanctuary. Very well run.

Very cool. I visited Keepers of the Wild in Valentine Az, but no feeding allowed. That looks like a nice place. Ever been to Tippi Hedren's place?

Have not been to ones you mentioned but they will go on our list. We are trying to go to as many as we can across the country.
    So Far.
    1. Safari West - Santa Rosa, CA
    2. Bearizona Williams Az
    3. Wildlife Safari Bend Or

I know there are a couple more but memory not cooperating right now.
