Fairy Stone SP
Heading to Fairy Stone SP early Sept. And plan to "hunt" for "Fairy Stones". Has anyone ever done this with any success? If so, any tips hints or suggestions? Or worse case scenario how much are they ...

Just knowing us, we plan for months on end and after all is said and done the trip is no where as planned. Sites missed and sites added!
The natural bridge we did plan on stopping at is in Ky. But there again that's a definite maybe.

Well I'm partial to the Natural Bridge in Va and Goshen Pass too. Both are beautiful and scenic. We spent an entire summer in that area. I've heard that the miles and miles of beautiful apple orchards around Buena Vista have been plowed under by developers. But you can still see the campuses of Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University with their classic architecture and museums in Lexington.
Burke's Garden aka "God's Thumbprint" was interesting but in a high mileage trip, you might not be interested. There's also Luray Caverns but that's several hours north of the area off of I-81.
In general I still find SW VA quieter than other areas in the Appalachians.
