Fall colors

I know we're just getting into the summer camping season but my plans for the summer have all been made. I am starting to look into the fall color season in the North Georgia mountains. Just wondering from people's experience where I should consider. With your recommendations I can look at RvParkReviews to see what others have to say. Thanks..

Hard to beat the fall colors at CLOUDLAND CANYON State Park at I59 Trenton GA exit. This is up on LOOKOUT MTN...

We always camp in the West RIM side which has nice fenced in patio area around your trailer...

All the fall colors everywhere you look... This is up on top of LOOKOUT Mtn and has a great canyon trail view between two rims of the mountain.

One of our favorite places to go...

  • Second the parks mentioned above.

Also, practically in Georgia, but further west, the Chilhowee area of the Cherokee National Forest has some nice campgrounds---Parksville Lake and Chilhowee. Nice hiking there.

I would aim for the 4th week in October for peak color in any of these locations.
  • We went to Tallulah Gorge state park last year October 14th-19th. No fall colors yet. The camp sites were small, but the park was very nice and the rim trails were awesome with about 11 or 12 overlooks down into the gorge. Even a suspension bridge across, but several hundred stairs down and back up. While we were there we heard some really great comments about Black Rock Mountain State Park. Didn't go there on our trip but it might be worth checking out. Another that I heard positive comments about was River Falls, if I remember right. Again, didn't go there myself.
