Favorite???
I don't know how you could ever pick just one as your "favorite campground/campgrounds for boating" in the State of Michigan. They are a forever fused together combination of fact! There are way more than a hundred of wonderful CG's right on the vast 4 of the 5 Great Lakes shores that border the state alone with boating right there only steps from your RV etc. Over 3200 miles of pure fresh, clean, deep, water (NO salt) Great Lakes shoreline with hundreds of navigigable harbors, bays, coves, marinas, public docks, excellent launching ramps right there and with restroom facilities, parks, and adequate vehicle/trailer parking, directly on navigable deep water connected rivers and also several very long inland waterway bouyed connected systems to enjoy, places to eat etc and or get supplies or bait galore or pure nature areas, over 800 miles of pure clean sand beaches accessible by boat with the same wonderful pure sand bottom under the water for your toes at the beaches. There's dozens of islands in the Great Lakes with boating facilities and/or with camping to explore or hike or get away from it all and be in your own world.
Then there's over 11,000 inland lakes in the state and so many of them have State Park or National Park or city or County or private owned campgrounds with docks and launching ramps right at your campsite. Boating, camping, and fishing is the way of life in Michigan and millions of out of staters come every year to join in also! Fishing is everywhere for big salmon species, walleye, steelhead, brown trout, lake trout, pike family, even catfish or other big fish. Then there's also the bass and big bass tournaments, bluegill/crappie type panfish, rainbow trout types, etc, and the simply delicious mild and tasty white meat lake perch to name a few! Sure, I'd missed naming them all but there are so many!
Boats are everywhere in Michigan from as small as 8' to over 100' because of the vast deep water lakes and rivers and almost all of it is totally open to the public and have campgrounds and docks/launching ramps right there also. I have been doing this recreation for over 60 years now (I'm 72). Got my first boat - a 14' used wood rowboat with a 3 hp Johnson outboard with my paperoute saved earnings when I was 11. We, DW and I have always had boats, power and sail, during our 52+ years of happy marriage and still do and so do our kids and their families. We all live in Michigan - the "Water Wonderland" and "The boating/camping paradise"!
Just pick one that fits your needs, wants, and desires and you'll have a great time. Can even pick a different one every month of summer and fall and not experience them all in a lifetime!!! Such a vast variety!
