- wbwoodExplorerI would go with one of the big 3 (Ocean Lakes, Lakewood and Pirateland). Lakewood is cool with the wristband thing, but you have to pay extra for them and you have to go daily to get your writband for the day. Never been to Piratelan, so will not comment on it except that some people seem to like it. Our favorite is Ocean Lakes. It's the biggest (and biggest on the east coast). Yes, there are lots of golf carts and if you go, you will see why. They have the pools, mini golf, and etc. They also have a lot of stuff at the activity center for the kids. My daughter enjoyed the little day camp thing they had daily. You do pay for it ($5 or $10 a day), but they do activities and meet other kids. Gives parents some of their own down time.
Unfortunately MBTP has the big requirement of minimum nights, whereas the others have only a 4 night requirement. Ocean Lakes also has the shortest time frame for that minimum amount of time and you can reserve specific sites. Their website is very helpful as telling you the size of the sites, if you can open up slides/awnings and any obstructions. They also tell you exactly how far from the beach you will be and how far from a bath house (if that's necessary). - Community AlumniWe enjoy Myrtle Beach Travel Park but as mentioned you might be late to get a site. Summer months also have a 7-day minimum.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIWe have resv. In July at Pirate Land (had them since July of last year when they had only 2 ocean front sites left). I was going to do OL's, but at the last second decided on PL.
Good luck! - JimMartinExplorerThanks for all the input!
- jayco304ExplorerAs mentioned Lakewood you get a wristband of all activities including mini golf, paddle boats, canoe, kayak, lazy river, waterslide, bike rental (deposit), etc.
They have a new Lazy River and three waterslides that are sure to be a big hit this year. We were there just a few weeks ago. They also installed new horse shoes, and Corn Hole area. I grew up going there as a kid and now we take our kids. Great family place, not as many golf carts here due to their restictions compared to some of the other campgrounds. Also we love that you can get Shaded sites. - glazierExplorer IIWe like Travel Park, but as mentioned I would be surprised if you are able to find a site this late.
- livelylittlecamExplorerHey Jim,
My family spent spring break at the Myrtle Beach KOA and we really loved it. It was very family friendly and a nice, safe environment. There is a nice pool and sprayground, fishing on site, and a bounce pad. It is a very shady campground which will be nice for July, and the staff is super friendly. The KOA is about two blocks from all of the fun craziness of the boardwalk but it feels a world away. Here are pictures and a review from our blog. Our kids are younger than yours but I am sure that they will love it as much as we do. If you have any questions please ask.

x2 - mockybirdExplorerLakewoood gives you wrist bands for those in your group to be able to do the fun things there without having to pay for each one. My favorite.
