Favorite huh? I don't know. Here's several I have really enjoyed:
Lake Gogebic State Park
Copper Harbor State Park
JW Wells State Park
I haven't visited a state park I wouldn't visit again. There's some I don't understand the demographic they target, and so I've formed a bias against them and I'm not likely to visit.
I also don't know anything about private parks in Michigan. The last one I visited charged me $5 to visit some friends for dinner. Their park, their rules, but my money says I'm never going to visit again. I guess I'm too cynical or contrarian to see the benefit of private parks. Is putting up with pages of rules and paying triple what a State Park costs really worth having sewer and water onsite?
