I don't think anyone is saying it can't be done. But there's no doubt that you are more limited on the number of sites with a 40' rig than someone with a 30' rig. The smaller the rig, the more sites you will have available. And on another note, you might of stayed in campgrounds that aren't as popular as others or stayed during an unpopular time of year or week. There are a lot of different variables. It's hard to say what one has said they've been able to do that another can. There are a lot of unknowns and uncontrollable things. Putting a 40' rig in a 30' site is more than likely a known thing that more than likely won't work. Kind of reminds me of the "elephant in the envelope" rule from some old LE training.
