OK, let’s stipulate that’s true. Then, why not six masks? After all, it just makes common sense. If two is better than one, then six is even more better than one. It’s just common sense.
Why aren’t we wearing six masks?
There's a point of diminishing returns -- if wearing a second mask gives a 20% additional protection (I don't know the real number), then another one just adds 4% additional protection.
And since these are cloth masks, the seal itself is a limiting factor. Real N95 masks have a rubber gasket to make an airtight seal against your face, but cloth masks don't seal well along the edges, so even if you had so many layers that the mask material was equivalent to an N95 mask, you'll never approach the effectiveness of a real N95 mask.
