Feeling pretty good about KOA Wilmington NC

Every year we spend a few days with family over Christmas in Wilmington NC. The KOA is the only game in town for RV parks. Yea, there's one in Carolina Beach but the reviews are terrible. This year I waited too long to make my reservation and was stuck with a water and power only back-in spot. We were going to make the best of it and hit the dump station every other day or so. I got an email from them yesterday that someone had cancelled and they automatically upgraded me to a full hookup pull through (which is what I asked them to do). I was pretty happy about that. I had expected that I would never hear back from them and be stuck unhooking and driving back and forth to the dump station which I was prepared to do.

We stay here two or three times a year and have for several years and they always do a good job. Kudos to the Wilmington KOA for remembering my note in my reservation and making our trip much better. Now we can go down, hook up and relax for Christmas.
  • http://www.oceanbreezefamilycampground.com/amenities.php. Another choice, and on Topsail Island. Just North of Wilmington, there is http://www.lanierscampground.com/. and Surf City family CG on the island it self. If fact Surf City is the only oceanfront CG between Myrtle Beach, and The OBX. It is however small, and closed for winter.

these are just a few choices, IF you sometime can't get into the KOA. Holden and Shalotte are not far from Wilmington.
  • It's great to hear good news about staff who care for their customers. If you would, please post a review at TripAdvisor about their attention to service. Here's the link to their TripAdvisor page Wilmington KOA TripAdvisor
  • We stayed at a few KOAs off I 95 in NC and have had good experiences with all of them.

  • Thanks for your post. Our son moved to the Wilmington area last summer & other than the hour to Myrtle Beach the KOA looked to be the closest one that would fit our trailer. But we have not tried any yet. The are several small campgrounds in the area but the sites look very small. There are two near Carolina Beach one looked to be in town in the middle of the block with public streets to back into your site from. The Other had good reviews. But just have not had alot of time to look at the others. (or any yet).
  • That's good to know. On my way from Colonial Williamsburg south to Myrtle Beach, I've always gone back to I-95. And it will give me a chance to see how dismal the Great Dismal Swamp really is. :)
