I'm so glad to have found this forum! My husband and I have just purchased a new class c RV, 2018 Forest River Forester 3011dsf. We will be going g to pick it up and drive it home next week and the dealer said to plan to spend about 3.5 - 4 hrs with one of their technicians who will show us how to operate everything. We are newbies and I''m worried I'm not going to know what questions to ask about how certain things in the rv work! If anyone has advice on something they think I might not even know to ask about, then by all means tell me! LOL. I'm getting a good list of questions together and reading through the forums has been extremely helpful. Thanks in advance for any help :)

You will probably miss a lot but that is where a forum like this is invaluable.I'm old. I'm supposed to be old and wise. It is really not hard at all. Just breath deeply and relax.

Do a video with your phone that you can play back later. It really isn't hard to operate anything with a coach. And, if you do have problems or don't know what to do there is a world full of friendly campers who are more than willing to help you. Enjoy!

You will have so much fun with your new RV! AS previously stated, please video your orientation. Sounds like you have a very good dealer by the sounds of them spending half a day with you. That is a lot of information so the video will be a great resource. Also, there are many very helpful people on here with decades of experience, so don't hesitate to ask.

For example I have an old style refrigerator and cabinet latches I need to check. Windows need to be shut, jacks up, kitchen items stowed, etc.

Check out the Forest River Owners Group (FROG) website, great forum with tons of info. Take your time on your walk through and just ask questions. I'd take it on a test drive before signing the papers as well. Congrats and best of luck with your new lifestyle.

Video when he explains switches, buttons and levers.

We get several "What's this for" questions so don't hesitate to come back if you have questions. You may find a mystery switch. We had one. It was for the LED light strip rolled up in the awning.

If you can, "camp" at the dealer the first night! Then you can ask questions in the morning!

Last year I talked to a newbe, an she got her dealer to come to a SP to do the first setup! Nice service (even if they had to pay for it). IMO

Don't complete the financial side of the deal until you know everything works as it should. If everything isn't in order, leave the MH at the dealer...don't take it home. Your dealer could be very good, but there are others who are horrible. Once they have your money, you're on your own.

Good dealer or bad, they will fix it immediately in order to sell it. Once it is sold, you will wait in line behind everyone else who has their RV in for service. This time of year, it could be weeks before they get to it.
