You're also competing with full time Florida residents who are limited to weekends and holidays, as they still work for a living and are raising children. They have to compete with Snowbirds to use their state park system in the prime camping months. I lived there for 11 months a few years back and have seen it first hand.
I have quite a few Florida friends who now only camp in the hot summer months. If ever there was a case for a State Park system giving full time residents preference on campsites Florida is it.
Michigan residents can correct me if I'm wrong. Having attended some Rallies in MI state parks over the years, I seem to remember all the State Parks I have visited going back pre recession were all high occupancy even back then. I am talking mid 2000's before any of this RV boom foolishness.
