First come first served state and national parks

My family and I are soon off on our first RV adventure! We have a few places planned that will require walk up reservations. What time is best to arrive? I'm thinking specifically of yellowstone Ma...

If you're leaving from Ohio in April for a two-month trip, why not head south first then over to the Arizona/Utah area and by the time you get to Yellowstone you'll be into May, which will be a much better time.
