I may be a little late with this. We like to travel without a set agenda. Depending on what area we are in and the time of day we want to get off the road we start looking at the campground directory for the area to see what is available. Or, looking for businesses like Cabelas, WalMart, Home Depot, or other large parking areas. Park in some obscure corner, fire the genset and relax.
There are also governemnt owned camping areas not in the directories. We just watch for the signs. If nothing else is available other than a truck stop we can tolerate that for a few hours sleep
