We now stay in Williams at Grand Canyon Railroad RV park or Circle Pines RV. Both are very nice. GC RV park is rather new, modern and allows use of their hotels indoor pool nearby. Around Williams is Bearizona drive thru animal park, deer farm petting zoo, Grand Canyon Railroad, Zip Line and Williams itself on route 66.
When we were in that area back in 2008 we chose to stay in Williams at the Grand Canyon Railway CG as well and it isn't far of a drive to Sedona or Flagstaff...you will be west of both on I-40.
We did like the Route 66 town of Williams and we took the train up to the Grand Canyon...keeping in mind our travels were in July...
Williams is a neat town as is Sedona...after leaving that area we headed north up to Bryce Canyon...
One tip...when in Sedona area...make sure you take the trip up to Jerome...it was once an old copper mining town on the hill...mines dried up and the hippies moved in in the 60's...never left...except today they call themselves "artists"...LOL
Good luck,
Joe.
