When we were in that area back in 2008 we chose to stay in Williams at the Grand Canyon Railway CG Joe.
Did not know this CG was open in 2008. Thought it was fairly new. This one is directly next door to the GC Railway and Hotel.
We stayed at the GC Railway Resort summer of '08 with our grandson. We took the train ride to the canyon, visited Las Vegas, prowled Rt 66 and Williams and even got caught in a sandstorm on our drive up to Page! Grandson wants to come back but without the sandstorm. I'd like to myself only this time to play golf in Arizona. :B
Yes...it is fairly new...but we were there in '08...drove to Page too...sadly there was a fatality on the highway and we had to sit in 100° plus on the roadway while they cleared the wreck for 3+ hours...thankfully we had the RV as we were letting other motorists use our rest room during the stoppage...but our inconvenience was nothing compared to those involved in that horrible wreck...what a tragedy
The Glenn Canyon Dam is a site to see up there as is driving next to Lake Powell...a beautiful drive...
Back on the CG...yes it sits right next to the Grand Canyon Railway hotel...in fact if you stay at the CG you use the hotel pool...I believe they are all owned by the same company...as is the train/railway to go to the GC...a neat/unique trip...
We would stay at the GC Railway CG again...it is a big resort setting...no grass...all asphalt though...so make sure you are okay with that...
