We travel from NY and have spent the night in that welcome center as well as santee state park in sc and a few other welcome centers on the way down. I prefer welcome centers to rest areas (which we have also stayed at).

NC also has a walmart that is right off the exit (maybe 50 something exit...not sure map is at home and we are not:B

Fort Clinch another option but not close to I95 but very nice.

Santee is a really really nice park. Waking up in the morning to confederate/rebel gunfire at dawn is a bit unnerving but still really neat.

Overnight camping is not permitted, but visitors may stay for up to three hours.

  • Hi Joe

We are heading out from Moncton 31 October. There is a small campground we usually stop at on the way down just before the Florida border in Georgia called "Walk About" handy to 95 exit at Woodbine.

  • There is a Cracker Barrel at exit 3 in Georgia (Kingsland) with a few RV spots. Check it out on www.googlemaps.com and you can see where the rv spots are located and the best way to get to them.
