Florida summer camping, reservations needed?

Thinking about taking 3 to 4 weeks camping and traveling around Florida, likely in the month of June. I know that winter is peak season there and reservations are a must, but what about summer? I am a school teacher, and have summers off. Heat is no problem for us, we live in Alabama. Is it feasible to travel around and hit campgrounds without reservations and get a site? Concentrating on public parks along the coast, and maybe the Keys. Input is appreciated, TIA....

I agree. Other than the Keys, you should have little or no trouble.

  • Winter is the peak season for snowbirds, but summer is the peak season for Floridians. So a reservation is a good idea especially in State Parks.
