Frederik Maryland

We go to see our daughter a couple times each year ........... Unfortunately those time are not in most campground schedule. I mean we go in early April and early November.

The only place we have found is Ramblin’ Pines Campground 801 Hoods Mill Road Woodbine MD. These people are the typical KOA like places charging 50 bucks plus a night.

We have a 40' TT and 2500 crew cab truck so the next issue is finding a place that can handle that.

Any help is welcome because not only is this campground 35 minutes from my daughter it is in the wrong direction when we head west. RVreviews offers little and there is a camp near a river by some railroad tracks but not way for us and our trailer to get in (to steep at tracks).

TIA
Tom

I hear your dilemma. Frederick like Baltimore suffers from lack of facilities and high prices. Here's the result for Frederick; at the bottom it mentions other nearby facilities.

I don't think that evergreen point village allows short term parking. check for campgrounds located in the Hagerstown area.

    Bump,

I spoke with them a number of years back and they allowed short term stays when they had the space. Being right behind Lowes sure make it easy and convenient to get around the town.

Brunswick Family Campground is in Brunswick, MD on the C&O Canal. Its about 20 minutes outside Frederick on the water. I've never stayed here, heard about it when talking to some people in another nearby park.

There are several campgrounds in Harpers Ferry, WV, that's about 30 to 40 minutes outside Frederick.

There are more campgrounds in Hagerstown, MD that's about 30 or 45 minutes north of Frederick.

There is nothing that I know of directly inside the city limits though.

brunswick is a bear to get a big rig into and sucks as a campground. Hagerstown is West of Frederick on I-70. a KOA and a Yogi Bear there, KOA in Harpers Ferry which would be further away.

  • There are 2 RV dealers in Thurmont. Maybe they can suggest something. Like a site on their property not being used. There is also this weird little CG in Thurmont that I can not remember the name of. Down on a big creek and darn near right in town. Family owned and maybe closed that time of year but maybe you can get lucky. Nice trout stream.

You do get around this site Bumpy!
Thanks for the hargertown idea I am going to checkout the Jellystone park. No kids but then this isn't the time for them (thank God). The park would be 39 minutes from the DD. So would be cool plus it is kinda in the right direction of Asheville NC my 2nd stop.
  • Cunningham Falls State Park is in Thurmont, MD. I've never stayed at the RV park, but I have done day trips there. Beautiful park and close to Frederick. Not sure about 40' sites... might be too much for a state park.

Brunswick Family Campground is in Brunswick, MD on the C&O Canal. Its about 20 minutes outside Frederick on the water. I've never stayed here, heard about it when talking to some people in another nearby park.

Little Bennett Campground in Germantown, MD is about 25 or 30 minutes south of Frederick, right off 270. I've stayed here before and its a nice campground. Again... that 40' trailer is what is making it difficult.

  • $50.00 or so a night seems like a pretty decent price considering a decent hotel is gonna be over $100.00 a night. Take the cg that you mentioned, call ahead and tell them what size camper you have and park your truck wherever if it won't fit on your site with your camper.

When we visit our daughter at college we always stay in a hotel (Hampton In. ) can't go wrong with them. Cg's are to far from her school and to far to pull the fiver for a quick trip. Good luck to you!!
  • How long will you be in the town?
If it was me I would Stay a night or 2 at Walmart or Francis Scott Key Mall.
