Getting ready to do some dry camping. Will be over a weekend. What would be better to do, use the fridge with it on propane or just take a cooler? Part of me says to do the cooler and save the propane and little battery waste that the electronic components will draw on the battery.Another part, says to use the fridge as it will be more convienent and not worry about the porpane or battery draw.

It would probably cost you more in ice than propane.If you are going to have a lot of people/a lot of drinking (soda, water, beer) save the wear and tear on the fridge and do both.

frig the thing uses very little propane. just make sure your battery is charged.

Use the propane refrigerator. It is made to do what you are planning to do.

I use both. In fact, now that I think about it, everyone I know that boondocks use both. I actually will take two coolers full of drinks on a long boondocking trip.

use both. the fridge for storage and the cooler for things that need to be cool.

I'm used to the two 30 lb tanks I had on e TT. Never had to refill them during the year for camping. Guess I will have to get used to refilling at least once. Depending on our camping.

On edit: meant to say refill them in the middle of the camping season. Always refilled them at the beginning.

X5 on the fridge. They use *very* little propane.

Mine is a 2007 29' Class C, and you are correct, it is a 40 lb tank which is more than 9.8, that's what it took the last time but it wasn't empty, I doubt though that it would hold 18 gal.

9.8 gallons is a very small Class C propane tank size - more like a Class B size or older Class C size. Our 2005 Class C has an 18 gallon propane tank.
