The only time we take a cooler along in our RV is on long trips as a backup to our propane refrigerator. We have a 12 volt powered electric cooler for this, as we don't want a failed propane refrigerator and possible food spoilage to ruin a great trip boondocking out in the middle of nowhere.
There is no substitute for "Plan B" procedures on potentially great RV trips ... especially at our age when we may not have a chance to ever redo any given RV adventure.
