Fun Factor

During our travels we found ALL types .....

Class A folks that 'snubbed' their noses at us for being in a 'trailer' and using their 'resort'

Permanent/long term folks that dropped everything to lend a hand.


Kinda like neighborhoods....
Some have NO clue who their neighbors are except in passing
Others that have get togethers/interact with each other


I always made the 'effort' of introducing ourselves to folks and then took it from there...friendly/GREAT-----standoffish/OK fine-no skin off my nose



In defense of those permanent/long term folks.
Isn't that a description that can be used for Snowbirds?
Aren't they RVrs AND 'permanent'

Difficult to say. Depends on where this park is. I'd guess permanent residents are not there for fun. They work.

If it a retirees park like we are in Arizona then all are there for fun.
Some are there full time.
If your bored where we are it is your own fault.
Plenty to do and plenty of people doing it

Apples to orgnage my friend. One of those classic "tastes great or leff filling" debates. Why do you ask? Just curious

Funny how these things spin off in unintended directions. I was not talking about permanent residents who live and work in an area. I was comparing RV parks that are really not RV parks since they are being filled up with "permanent" units for the use of winter visitors.

"Why do I ask"? Because I can. Also, as I travel around I might base my preference on one kind of park over the other, everything else being equal. I have been called, a "JAR" (Just a renter) before, as an example of one kind of park. I am getting older and that is very common in the "park model" parks than in the predominately RV parks. Just asking, on a slow Saturday afternoon.

My question should probably have been, "Which kind of park is the most fun for you?"

Don't rely on 'others' for my fun factor.

CG is for parking RV in so we can go out/about adventuring enjoying the local sites/sounds

TomG2, I think you have entirely too much time on your hands.:)

Clarification is needed.

Permanent residents = people who 'permanently' 'live' in a permanently parked trailer or mobile home. That does not make them an RV'er.

Seasonal residents = RV'ers who leave their RV in place and visit it seasonally.
Either just weekends or for a full season in the summer/winter months depending on the region.

Almost all CG's have these two types separated within the park. People who RV like to park next to others with their same interests.

Most CG's I have been in they even separate the seasonal section from the CG section also. Because in that CG section people are pulling in and pulling out all the time. That would be a pain to have a seasonal spot and have neighbors on either side pulling in and pulling out all the time.

In answer to the OP. I have found when staying at a CG short term that has a 'seasonal' section. These people have bonded friendships with their surrounding neighbors. And don't very often venture out of their section to chit chat with the RV'er that is parked there short term or long term where they leave with their RV.

I will not stay at CG's that have 'permanent' residents.

As a rule the RV crowd is younger and the Park Model crowd are older retired RVers. Not always but often. Both can be a fun group but overall I think the RVers are more fun. We have gone from RV to Park Model to brick house in our Winter Texan community. We still RV in the Summer and Fall.

I have found the RVers are more fun than the semi permanent residents. More similar interests too.
