I'm confused.... I was looking on campsite photos for Furnace Creek, and the site I booked says "water and sewer" but no Electricity. I can clearly see in the photo that there is an electric box, does anyone know when those are going "active"?It's not a deciding factor, we have solar, and never run out of charge...but it would be nice. :)

I was there in April and was astonished to learn that the electric was installed but not energized due to some government wrangling over how much to charge. Meanwhile, the poor campers were sweltering in 90° heat.If that story is true, that's hard to believe- even for government.

Hmmm, doesn't bode well for electricity being turned on soon, as the rezzie was the same $18 it's been for a while. I can't imagine them asking for more money with a reservation already paid for? Or maybe they would. I would definitely pay more for electricity....this is so interesting to me.

We stayed once in the CG behind Furnace Creek and won't do it again. I'd rather dry camp in the large Sunset camping area and just dump/fill when needed. The FC one is small, crowded, and you're right on top of the cabins. On the plus side, it's right near the coffee shop, pool, etc. If you must have power, I think it's the only game around.
