We spent Christmas 2011 at Galveston. We had a blast. We visited museums, toured a ship, walked around the historic area, had a great Christmas party and New Year's Eve party at the rv park. The state park wasn't back in service although we prefer staying there. We took the rv on the ferry which was pretty cool.
Worth a stop in my book. The same with New Orleans. We found a great park, small and inexpensive for 30 a night, stay a week and get a free night. We were 10 minutes by car from the French Quarter.
