Gardiner Montana

We will be in Gardiner next June and will like to know which one will be your choice as best rated campground according to your. Would it be Rocky Mountain RV Park or Yellowstone RV Park ?
Hard to make a decision Went on RV Park Reviews to read some of the reviews Here is where you my fellow campers come to my rescue Your opinion counts Thanks for taking your time to answer my question
  • Push the RV Parks button at the top of this page and you'll have access to a host of campground reviews. Checking shows neither of your choices. Top rated is Yellowstone's Edge.

Wait, you already went to RV Park Reviews and still can't decide? Do you want me to decide for you? I choose Yellowstone's Edge.

That would put you 30 miles from the North Entrance gate, while the two choices the OP mentioned would be less than a mile. Touring Yellowstone is time and mileage intensive as it is, I don't see any advantage to adding 60+ miles and more than an hour of travel every day.
  • Yellowstone RV Park is right on the river and a lot of workers for the contract vendors stay there. THe river should be flowing strong in June with the snow melt high up. Not familiar with yellowstone edge
  • Have you thought about RV parks in West Yellowstone? With Fishing Bridge RV Campground closed for refurbishment then West Yellowstone might work better than Gardiner.

Why? Gardiner is actually much closer to the grand loop than West Yellowstone. It is also closer to the Lamar Valley which is the best animal viewing area. And it is a good location to use to drive the Beartooth Highway.
Fishing Bridge being closed shouldn't effect either West Yellowstone or Gardiner other than making scarce RV sites even more scarce. And a lot of people prefer those two gateway towns over Fishing Bridge since the towns have many more services such as groceries, restaurants, shopping, television service etc.
  • We stayed in Gardiner in July, though not with our RV. I don’t recall seeing Rocky Mountain, but did see Yellowstone RV Park. It didn’t look bad, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there, especially for convenient access to Yellowstone.

As mentioned, Yellowstone’s edge is quite a distance from Yellowstone’s entrance. When we passed it, I remember thinking “almost there”! A half hour later we finally made it.

Gardiner is pretty convenient for stocking up on supplies, gas, and has plenty of restaurants to choose from. Nothing fancy at all, but reasonably priced.

    Enjoy your trip!
  • Thank you everybody for your input. I made reservations at Rocky Mountain RV park .Nothing fancy,a little expensive but wanted to be closer to town and north entrance to Yellowstone. We have been on the West side a couple of times so this next year we wanted to try the North side.So again thank you to all that reply to my topic.
