general safety in Ft. Meyers Fl area
We are going to spend three months in Ft Meyers area this winter, and are wondering if area is for most part ok as far as safety goes, being out at night ect, certain areas to avoid?

We spent some time in N. Ft. Myers during 2012 while visiting friends who lived in Ft. Myers. The campground was a little out of the way for some things and very handy for others. I think it was called Upriver Resort. Safety was never a consideration or concern during our stay or travels around the area. We spent some time wandering around day or night and never felt any threat of any type.
I don't think we are naive or unaware even though we are small town people for most of our lives, we have traveled a lot an done so in some less than desirable areas without problems. As with anyone who travels, we would not stay if we were uncomfortable somewhere.
