From what I can find there are only two camp sites in Glacier National Park that you can reserve ahead of time, and I am sure you have to be extremely lucky to even manage to get one, when the reservation window opens… So I am wondering how difficult it will be to get a walk-up camp site, say late June, all of July (with the exception of July 4th) and early August. I would sure hate to make the 1500 mile trip and not be able to get a place to stay. Would love to hear anyone’s experiences and or suggestions! Happy Camping!!!!

Three campgrounds take reservations but only half of Apgar is reservable. Half of Apgar is first come first served. I didn't have any problem by getting in early. I think we got there about 10-11 and had no problems. Get in early in the week tuesday through thursday would be best.There is onther campgrounds that are first come first served. I would wholeheartedly agree that Mountain Meadow in Hungry Horse is a great place to stay. We were there in July. That is where we would go if we ever return to Glacier.

The West Glacier KOA is one of the best KOAs we've been to. Normally I don't pick KOA, but that one is really nice.

Piece of cake, unless you wait until too late in the day to get a spot. Much easier in Glacier than in Yosemite.

What size site did you get? Will it be harder if we have a 30 TT? Seems to me to be on the small side so I wouldnt think it would be an issue finding a site big enough for us!

We really hate to staya at KOA's, they are usually expensive and packed in. But we will if we have to. :)
