The Visitor Center is wonderful. Be sure to buy your bus tour tickets there, as they cost less than in town. The museum there is very good, and the place you absolutely must go is the Cyclorama located at the Visitor Center. You feel as if you are actually in the middle of the battle. I recommend you go to the Cyclorama before you go on the bus tour, because it brings out the events of the battle better than just listening to the guide. Our bus tour guide was very good and much better than an audio tape, since you can ask questions that may not be addressed in the audio tape.
