Going to Kings Island Amusement Park

We are traveling to kings island for a one day stay in a motorhome without a tow. We will be arriving late the day before and leaving late that night. Can someone recommend some places to dry camp that are near kings island. It appears that many of the Walmarts near the area prohibit overnight parking.

Thank you

  • We traveled to Kings Island a few years ago and stayed at Winton Woods Campground nearby. It's managed by Hamilton County Parks and was a terrific value for price paid. Concrete or back in sites with full hook ups. Well run and clean rv park. We would return there. We like Cedar Point a lot, stayed on site at Campers Village, did not like Kings Island nearly as much.
  • Thank you for the information. We are planning a loop trip from Roanoke va over to kings island and then to cedar point and then back to Roanoke. Depending on how much time we have we may hit kennywood.

From reading online the overall best route appears to be 460 over to 64 then 35 to 71 (I know this is a little back tracking but I am not sure about 50 in a RV).
From KI take 71 to 250 up to cedar point.

The route back I am not sure about. Traveling though Akron (77) doesn't appeal to me. I have done it in a car and it is extremely congested.
  • The campground is gone.... That's where Great Wolf Lodge was built. As for a place to stay look at Miami Valley Gaming. It's about 20min away and a very easy country drive to get there.

FYI, Great Wolf Lodge is within walking distance of King Island. We went to Great Wolf Lodge a couple years ago with all the grandkids and the kids. Gigantic indoor water park... great place. We all had rooms, spent the night. It was more fun than going to Kings Island. Kids had 100% water, 100% of the time. Lines for the slides and such were, basically, no wait!

Looking at Google street view/satellite imagery, it appears that the campground is no longer in existence. It's also not listed on Kings Island's area campgrounds page.
